Professor Jaume Masia is currently Full Professor and Director of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Sant Pau Hospital - Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona. He received his medical degree at Barcelona University, and his PhD at Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona. Professor Masia carried out his plastic surgery training at Sant Pau Hospital in Barcelona. He completed his training with fellowships in Canniesburn Hospital (Glasgow) and in Queen Victoria Hospital (East Grinstead). In 1999, he introduced DIEP flaps for breast reconstruction in Spain. He got a post as plastic surgery consultant at Sant Pau University Hospital in 2001. Two years later he became the Chief of Microsurgery Unit and in 2007 he won the position as Chief of Plastic Surgery Department and Professor in Plastic Surgery at Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona. Professor Masia was President of the Spanish Society of Plastic Surgery (SECPRE) in 2011-13 and President of Plastic Surgery Foundation for Education in 2014-15. Since 2010 he has been the Co-Director of the International Master’s Degree on Reconstructive Microsurgery and also Co-Director of the European Masters in Oncology, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Breast Surgery at Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona. Currently he is the President of the Educational Committee of the European Federation of Microsurgery Societies. He has been invited as lecturer and visiting Professor in more than one hundred international meetings in plastic surgery, author of several papers and books as well. His current main interests are perforator flaps, lymphoedema surgery and medical education.

Claudio graduated with an MD degree from Universidad de Buenos Aires in 1972. He carried out his surgical residency at the Medical College of Ohio USA. Claudio then became a micro fellow at Tokyo Metropolitan Hospital in 1980 and became Visiting Professor Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation in 1992. He won the Robert Ivy Award for Best Paper at the ASPS Annual Meeting in New Orleans in 1996.

Marlene See is a Consultant in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, London. Marlene's specialist interests are breast and microsurgical reconstruction. Marlene trained in London and East Grinstead. Before embarking on her plastic surgery training, Marlene carried out research on 3D imaging and its application in facial analysis, for which she was awarded a Masters in Surgical Science. She completed her training with a fellowship in microsurgery at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, London, and has published on the subjects of breast reconstruction, facial analysis and lower limb reconstruction. Her current practice involves breast reconstruction following therapeutic and risk-reducing mastectomies, including microvascular breast reconstruction; correction of congenital breast deformities and aesthetic breast surgery.

Professor Farhadi is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon and previous Director of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London. He trained in Switzerland and London, where he developed a specialisation in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the breast, including microvascular breast reconstruction. Due to his extensive experience he has become an authority on this subject, where he is regularly invited as a speaker to national and international conferences. Professor Farhadi runs an active research group, where he has published widely. He is co-Chair of the European Master’s in surgical oncology, reconstructive and aesthetic breast surgery.

Dr Cordeiro is a renowned oncologic plastic surgeon with a special expertise in breast reconstruction, head and neck reconstruction, and microsurgical procedures. Within breast reconstruction his work has focused on long and short term surgical, aesthetic and patient reported outcomes in addition to extending the use of implants for breast reconstruction, particularly in the previously irradiated patient and patients who need post mastectomy radiation. Within head and neck he has described several defect specific classification systems with algorithms pertaining to free flap reconstruction, particularly in the area of the midface, mandible and the oropharynx. Dr Cordeiro received his MD degree from Harvard Medical School, completed his general surgery training at the Harvard Surgical Service and plastic surgery at New York University. He is currently Professor of Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University and holds the William G Cahan Chair in Surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer where he served as Chief of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center from 2001 to 2016. Dr Cordeiro is the author of more than 300 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, two books, has served on 8 editorial boards including Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery, and Annals of Plastic Surgery and has delivered over 250 presentations and lectures around the world throughout the plastic & reconstructive surgical community.

Chief of Plastic Surgery Department, National Institute for Cancer of Rome & Coordinator of the Breast Unit at National Institute for Cancer of Rome Roy de Vita MD, full boarded in plastic reconstructive and aesthetic Surgery, has been Chief of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department of the National Cancer Institute “Regina Elena” in Rome since 2002 and he is also Coordinator of the Breast Unit of the same Institute. His main fields of clinical and scientific interest are reconstructive and aesthetic breast surgery, an area in which he is widely published. In his department, more than 700 breast surgical reconstructive procedures are performed every year including implant based breast reconstruction, both DTI and 2 stage, and autologous tissue, both microsurgical and pedicle flaps. In private practice he performs more than 200 breast augmentations/year and 40% of these procedures are for revisional surgery. Roy de Vita is a member of the Italian Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (SICPRE); American Society for Plastic Surgery (ASPS) and Italian Society for Surgery (SIC).

Professor Allen is Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at LSU HSC. He has LSU General and Plastic Surgery Residencies and a NYU Microsurgery Fellowship. He was Program Director and Chief of LSU Plastic Surgery from 1987 to 2005. Professor Allen created the DIEP and other perforator flaps. He is a native son of the Great Pee Dee River of South Carolina, Wofford College Ping Pong champion, and is married to high school sweetheart, Linda Truluck Perry.

Professor Christoph Andree attended medical school at the University of Bonn, Germany. After his postdoctoral research fellowship at Harvard Medical School, he obtained his training in plastic and hand surgery at the University Hospital Freiburg, Germany. Presently, he is Head of the Department of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery at the SANA-Clinic in Düsseldorf, specialising in aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery. Further, he is the Founder and Owner of the Breast & Body Center of Excellence in Breast Surgery at the Königsallee in Düsseldorf. He has been awarded several research grants and received various honours.

Mitchell H Brown, MD, is a full Professor in the Department of Surgery and past Program Director of the plastic surgery training program in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at The University of Toronto. Dr Brown’s plastic surgery practice is focused primarily on reconstructive and aesthetic breast surgery and body contouring. Dr Brown earned his medical degree at the University Of Western Ontario Faculty Of Medicine in London, Ontario. He completed his residency in plastic surgery at the University of Toronto and then received a Master’s degree in Education. Dr Brown has lectured extensively in the areas of reconstructive and aesthetic breast surgery with a strong focus on breast implants. He is the Founder of Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day, an advocacy initiative to raise awareness for options in breast reconstruction. Dr Brown is the Chair of the Toronto Breast Surgery Symposium, Canada’s largest annual meeting focused on plastic surgery of the breast. Dr Constantin Stan is a member of the Romanian Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Society, member of the European Academy for Cosmetic Surgery (EACS), member of the French Society for Aesthetic Surgery (FSAS), member of the North-American Academy for Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery, honorary member of the South American Academy for Aesthetic Surgery. In 1997 he became a first physician, specialising in ORL and cervical and facial surgery and since then he has performed only aesthetic surgery in private centres. Throughout all these years, Dr Stan has attended several specialised courses in Romania and abroad; culminating in the Master’s Degree in Aesthetic Surgery at the University in Milan, Italy, within the School of Plastic Surgery, in university year 2000-2001 (Professor Donatti and Professor Pellegrini). In 2003 Dr Stan started his second specialisation training in plastic and reconstructive surgery, in the clinic of Professor Ioan Lascar in Floreasca Emergency Hospital in Bucharest.

Joannis Constantinides trained in plastic surgery in Liverpool, Birmingham and Preston, where he received a comprehensive education in both surgical reconstruction and cosmetic surgery. He sub-specialised in reconstructive microsurgery by completing two fellowships in London (St Thomas’ Hospital) and Taiwan (China University Hospital) and by gaining experience visiting various microsurgical units in Sweden (Uppsala and Malmo), Belgium (Gent), Canada (Winnipeg) and the US (MD Anderson). His clinical practice encompasses several aspects of reconstructive microsurgery and cosmetic surgery. His main subspecialist areas of expertise are in breast reconstruction, abdominal wall and perineal/pelvic reconstruction and surgery for lymphoedema. He has extensive experience in cosmetic surgery of the breast, torso and limbs including surgery following weight loss, as well as in non-surgical rejuvenation techniques. Joannis supervises microsurgery fellows at St Thomas’ Hospital and registrars at St Mark’s and is regularly involved in clinical research.

Dr Joseph Dayan is a plastic surgeon and Co-Director of the Lymphatic Surgery & Research Program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. He is also Director of the Facial Nerve Program and specialises in microsurgery for breast reconstruction, lymphoedema, and facial reanimation. Dr Dayan graduated from the University of Vermont School of Medicine in 2002, completed his plastic surgery training at Georgetown, and went on to spend a year at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan for his microsurgery fellowship. His contributions include developing new and safer techniques to treat lymphoedema, advancing lymphatic imaging technology, increasing the indications for breast conservation using free tissue transfer, and development of new techniques to improve outcomes in facial reanimation in patients with cancer.

Joon Pio Hong, MD, PhD, MBA is Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Ulsan College of Medicine and Asan Medical Center. He has board certification in Trauma, Hand and Plastic surgery. He is also an adjunct professor to Georgetown University USA and St Paul University Ethiopia. He received his BSc degree from the Yonsei University of College of Medicine and his MSc degree in medicine and PhD degree from the Graduate School of Yonsei University. He received his MBA on medical management from University of Southern California at Marshall School of Business. He is an active member of a number of professional associations such as American Society of Plastic Surgery, Korean Society of Plastic Surgery and currently serves as Secretary General for World Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery. His major work has been research and clinical practice in wound healing, diabetic foot & lower extremity reconstruction and supermicrosurgery. He is on the editorial board for numerous journals including Plastic and Reconstructive surgery, International Wound Journal, Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery, Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and more. He has been invited to over 80 countries to present his work and is visiting professor for more than 20 institutions. He has over 180 publications in this field of practice with 24 book chapters including the Neligan Plastic Surgery. He was awarded the ‘Godina Travelling Fellowship’ from the 2015 American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery.

Koenraad van Landuyt, MD, PhD Koenraad Van Landuyt is Associate Professor of Plastic Reconstructive Surgery at the Department of Plastic Surgery of the University Hospital Gent, Belgium. He is also appointed as Consultant Plastic Surgeon with a special interest in microsurgical breast reconstruction at the St Lucas Ziekenhuis Gent, Belgium. His main interest is reconstructive microsurgery, including paediatric and lower extremity, with a rather vast experience in autologous breast reconstruction. He is also involved as a tutor in the international Master’s degree in reconstructive microsurgery in the European School of Microsurgery at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain. Author/co-author of multiple articles in peer reviewed plastic surgery journals, he has published mainly on the different aspects of perforator flap surgery and as such has been an invited guest at multiple international conferences on the subject.

Dr Nicolas Leymarie is a Plastic Surgeon, Senior Consultant at Gustave Roussy Hospital, one of the main comprehensive cancer centres in France. He graduated from Paris Diderot University. Dr Nicolas Leymarie is specialised in prosthetic and autologous breast reconstruction, microsurgery and oncoplastic surgery. He is a member of the French Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (SoFCPRE) and educational coordinator for the International Master’s Degree of Reconstructive Microsurgery (MRM) and for the European Master’s Degree in Surgical Oncology, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Breast Surgery (MRBS). Alberto Rancati MD, PhD, graduated in 1984 from medical school at University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, he is board certified in general surgery, mastology, and plastic surgery. He undertook his training in plastic and oncologic surgery in Argentina, Italy and the USA. He is a member of ASPS (American Society of Plastic Surgeons), ISAPS, (International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery), and SACPER (Sociedad Argentina de Cirugia Plastica, and AAC (Asociacion Argentina de Cirugia) He is currently Chief of Oncoplastic Surgery at the Instituto Oncologico Henry Moore in Buenos Aires, and Director of Plastic Surgery for Latin America at the CFS -UCSD (Center for the Future of Surgery, at University of California, San Diego, USA. His private practice is based at Buenos Aires, Argentina. Gino Rigotti, born in Verona Italy, was graduated “cum laude” at Modena University. He is Board Certified in Plastic Surgery and in Space and Aeronautical Medicine. Dr Rigotti was been Head of the Division of Plastic Surgery, Burn Unit and State Center for Breast Reconstruction at the Azienda Ospedaliera, Verona until June 2011. Marzia Salgarello has been Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery since 2014 at the Catholic University of “Sacro Cuore”, Rome, Italy. Since 2014 she has been the Chief of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the University Hospital “A. Gemelli”, Rome, Italy, where she is also in charge of the Plastic Surgery Specialisation Course of the Catholic University of “Sacro Cuore”, Rome, Italy. Alexander Seifalian, Professor of Nanotechnology and Regenerative Medicine worked at the Royal Free Hospital and University College London for over 26 years. During this time he spent a year at Harvard Medical School looking at caused of cardiovascular diseases and at Johns Hopkins Medical School looking at the treatment of liver. He published more than 647 peer-reviewed research papers and registered 14 UK and international patents. During his career, he has led and managed many large projects with successful outcomes in terms of commercialisation and translation to patients. In 2007, he was awarded the top prize in the field of nanotechnology for the development of cardiovascular implants by Medical Future Innovation, and in 2009 he received a Business Innovation Award from UK Trade & Investment. He was the European Life Science Awards’ Winner of Most Innovative New Product 2012, and in 2016 he received the Distinguish Research Award in recognition of his outstanding work in regenerative medicine from Heals Healthy Life Extension Society. Currently, he is CEO of NanoRegMed Ltd, working on the commercialisation of human organs using graphene-based nanocomposite materials and stem cells technology. He has already commercialised a novel functionalised graphene oxide for medical application .

Kotaro Yoshimura MD is currently a professor and Chair of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Jichi Medical University, Japan. He received his medical degree and doctorate from University of Tokyo. After returning from research work at University of Michigan, he worked for University of Tokyo and directed his laboratory as an innovative surgeon-scientist. His research interests cover skin/hair/scar biology, wound healing/angiogenesis, fat grafting/adipose stem cells, and regenerative medicine. He has published more than 150 original articles published in Pubmed-indexed journals. He has received a number of awards including the 38th Maliniac Lecturer in 2016 from American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). Professor Yoshimura is currently President of ISPRES (International Society of Plastic Regenerative Surgeons), International Chair and BOD of JSPRS (Japanese Society of Plastic Reconstructive Surgery), a BOD of JSAPS (Japanese Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery), ISAPS (International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery) National Secretary for Japan, and Past-President of IFATS (International Federation for Adipose Therapeutics and Science). He also works as an associate editor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (PRS) and PRS-Global Open (PRS-GO).

Dr Kim is a Professor of Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He was educated at Harvard College and received graduate degrees in Medicine and English Literature from Stanford University. He completed an integrated plastic surgery programme at Baylor and did his microvascular hand fellowship with Dr Neil Ford Jones at UCLA. His clinical practice focuses on breast reconstruction and cosmetic breast and body contouring. He is an Associate Editor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Chair of the ASPS Annual Program Sub-Committee for Breast. He has published over 170 peer reviewed papers, holds 16 issued patents, and has founded two start companies on novel medical devices.

Born January 25, 1956 in Florence (Italy). Marco Innocenti graduated cum Laude in Medicine and Surgery from University of Florence “Facolta’ di Medicina e Chirurgia” in 1981. He completed a residency in Orthopaedic and Traumatology Surgery in 1984, in Hand Surgery in 1987 and in Plastic Surgery in 2004; all three cum Laude. He is currently the Director of the Plastic & Reconstructive Microsurgery Department of Careggi University Hospital in Florence (Italy). He is Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of Florence and he also holds the position of Director of the Plastic Surgery residency programme. Dr Innocenti’s clinical work is focused on post traumatic and post oncological functional reconstruction of bone as well as soft tissue with a special interest in the vascularised proximal fibular epiphyseal transfer in the growing individuals and the application of perforator flaps and propeller flaps.
