Professor of Plastic Surgery

Maurice Nahabedian, MD was formerly a Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University, Georgetown University and the Inova branch of the Virginia Commonwealth University. Since 2017, he has been in private practice at the National Center for Plastic Surgery in McLean, Virginia. Dr Nahabedian completed his residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1995 and was on their faculty until 2005 where he served as program director under the leadership of Paul Manson, MD. In 2005, he joined the faculty at Georgetown University where he was Vice Chairman under the leadership of Scott Spear, MD. Dr Nahabedian has published over 240 scientific manuscripts, editorials, and invited discussions; served as principal or associate editor of 10 textbooks; and written 107 book chapters focused primarily on aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the breast. He was an associate editor for the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery from 2005 – 2009 and was the Breast Section Editor from 2009 – 2017. He is the current editor for the Aesthetic Breast Reconstruction Section of the Aesthetic Surgery Journal. Dr Nahabedian has been a visiting professor at 116 hospitals and universities nationally and internationally, delivered over 1,300 lectures on topics related to reconstructive and aesthetic breast surgery and chaired 21 national and international conferences.
